National Museum Strategy and Renaissance Review…

At a time when the museums sector is under greater pressure and subject to greater demands than ever before should we be asking why the ‘urgent’ (as said in 2006) National Museums Strategy is still unlaunched and the Renaissance Review (due in ‘early 2009′) is in the same position. What do you think is the current performance of MLA on the national and regional stage. Do you feel that they have their finger on the pulse and are providing sector leadership? Comments please…

Unlike the Bury Museum episode, Southampton are being careful to follow due process and are being transparent about what they are doing. The interesting element is the huge local press campaign supporting the selling of some art to help fund the new developments.
